GuideHow to Configure DMARC (CNAME)

Congratulations on successfully adding your domain! The next step is to create a CNAME record in your domain's DNS settings. Since the process varies depending on your domain hosting service, here is a general overview:

1. Log Into Your Hosting Account

Access the control panel of your domain hosting service.

2. Find DNS Settings

Look for the DNS management section (e.g., 'DNS Settings', 'Name Server Management').

3. Add a CNAME Record

Locate the option to add a new DNS record, selecting 'CNAME' as the record type.

4. Configure the CNAME Record

Set Name/Alias to desired subdomain (e.g. _dmarc). Set Type to CNAME. Set Target/Points to the destination address.

5. Save Your Changes

Complete the process by saving the new record.

6. Wait for Propagation

DNS updates can take up to 48 hours to propagate across the internet.

Setting up SPF

SPF setup typically involves adding a TXT record to your DNS. SimpleDMARC handles flattening automatically. In your dashboard, copy the provided SPF include mechanism and add it to your existing SPF record or create a new one if none exists.

Configuring DKIM

DKIM requires generating a private/public key pair. SimpleDMARC generates these for you. You simply need to add the provided CNAME or TXT records to your DNS to publish the public key.

BIMI Implementation

BIMI requires DMARC at enforcement (p=reject or p=quarantine) and a verified mark certificate (VMC) for some providers. Upload your SVG logo in the dashboard and we will guide you through the VMC process.
