What Does This Tool Analyze?

Our email header analyzer examines multiple layers of your email to provide a comprehensive security and deliverability assessment.

1

Authentication (SPF/DKIM/DMARC)

Checks whether the email passed SPF, DKIM, and DMARC authentication. These protocols verify the sender's identity and prevent spoofing.

2

Routing & Transport

Traces every server hop the email traveled through, calculates transit delays between hops, and checks if TLS encryption was used throughout.

3

Sender & Deliverability

Analyzes sender information (From, Return-Path, Reply-To), spam indicators, and calculates an overall deliverability score from 0-10.

🔒 100% Client-Side — Your Data Never Leaves Your Browser

Unlike other email analysis tools, SimpleDMARC's Email Header Analyzer runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Your email headers are never sent to any server, stored in any database, or shared with any third party. Zero data leaves your machine.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are email headers?
Email headers are metadata attached to every email message. They contain routing information (which servers the email passed through), authentication results (SPF, DKIM, DMARC), timestamps, sender details, and other technical information. Headers are normally hidden but can be viewed in any email client.
Is it safe to paste my email headers here?
Yes, completely safe. All analysis runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript. No data is transmitted to any server, stored in any database, or shared with any third party. You can verify this by checking your browser's Network tab — no requests are made when you click Analyze.
What does the deliverability score mean?
The deliverability score (0-10) estimates how likely the email would reach the inbox based on authentication results (SPF/DKIM/DMARC pass/fail), TLS encryption usage, Return-Path alignment, and other header signals. A score of 8+ is excellent, 6-7 is good, 4-5 is fair, and below 4 indicates potential delivery issues.
Why can't I upload .eml files?
For security reasons, we only accept pasted header text. EML files can contain executable content, malicious attachments, or embedded scripts that could pose a security risk. Raw email headers are plain text metadata — completely safe to analyze with zero security risk.
How do I find my email headers?
In Gmail: Open the email → click the three-dot menu → "Show original". In Outlook: Open the email → click "⋯" → "View message source". In Yahoo: Click "⋯" → "View raw message". In Apple Mail: View → Message → All Headers. Copy the full header text and paste it into the analyzer.
